My "New" Chair!

I'm so excited! After purchasing an old chair last year, I finally sent it to be reupholstered. And today, I got to pick it up!
Isn't it beautiful!

Remember what it looked like before? Who would have ever chose that fabric? Plus, it was in really bad shape. Kinda gross actually.

I poored over fabric websites and visited fabric stores for the last year looking for the perfect fabric. I am a bit fussy, but my problem was more what would work with the room. I have a geometric print wallpaper, so I didn't want another pattern that would complete with it.

Also, the chair had a channel back which wouldn't allow for any pattern that wasn't random, or else it would love uneven.
I finally picked one that worked well with the other patterns and colors in the room.
What do you think?

The fabric is Waverly Sun N Shade Mimosa Mushroom. It's an indoor/outdoor fabric so it should withstand lots of use!

I am contemplating painting the legs white.. not sure. It feels a bit wild to me since the rest of the room is so soft and serene feeling, but I think it provides a punch that the room needed.
What do you think?

  1. What a great pop of color in a serene room. So smart of you to think about the pattern and how it would look with the channel back.

    The chair looks beautiful x

  4. Your living room is awesome! Did you hang the wallpaper yourself? I want to wallpaper our guest bathroom. I love your new chair. I think white legs would look great if you decide to paint them.

  5. Very pretty. Love the pillow too. Would love to see pics of the chair in the living room-it's kind of hard to see what the whole room looks like. Love your taste though. I think your home is looking very pretty.

  8. Thanks everyone! I'm still unsure about the legs but there is no rush I guess.
A good point about posting a pic of the whole room with the chair. I was so excited about the chair that didn't think of that! I'll take one this weekend and post it:)

  10. the first thing I thought before reading your question at the end of your post, was that you should paint the legs white! great minds think alike!

    really pretty chair.

was it very pricey to have it reupholstered? did you purchase the fabric for the upholsterer to use or did he/she have it in stock?

  14. LOVE the chair! I have to ask; was it reasonable to have it reupholstered? I'm thinking of doing something similar and am scared to try! So glad I found your blog; I'm loving all your great home projects!

  16. I say don't paint the legs. White will draw too much focus.

  17. New visitor and I love that chair and as I was reading the original post I kept saying "please tell me it's new and not a rehabed chair because I want that chair" but I should have known better. I absoluely love the fabric but I can't for the life of me find old chairs with good bones for getting reupholstered. I'll keep looking.

  18. I'm a new visitor and found you through Miss Mustard Seed. I just love your chair. The fabric has the perfect combination of colors. My friend and I have been in the process of changing the color palette in our homes and this fabric would work perfectly. I absolutely love what you have done to your home! Thank you for inspiring us!
