Beaufort's Corner.

What do you do when you spy a white ceramic wall hanging that looks just like your sweet little dog's face? You buy it, of course, and figure out what to do with if later.

This is how Beaufort's corner in the back porch was born. All the metal baskets were on clearance at Superstore, so I snagged one of the wall baskets. It hangs by the door and is perfect for leashes, toys and rags for wiping wet paws.

Such a simple little update but it works for us and it's cute.. which is most important, right? :) Have a great week!

Little By Little.

Things are starting to come together around here. While much of Stephane's furniture was sold, it is the kitchen supplies, accessories, art, and clothes that we've had to contend with. We are far from finished in some ways, but I feel that we are more organized than ever and that feels good. Our project list has grown substantially too, but we love all that stuff so it's all good. (I promised Steph a nice break though before we get going on anything!)

Living with clutter makes me a little anxious. Steph is a machine when it comes to putting things away. I'm a good cleaner and I like to make things pretty, one spot at a time. What a team! Ha!

It has literally has come down to tackling one room, one cupboard, or one closet at at time. Here is a little glimpse of how things have been looking.

And here it is now... ahh... so much better!

I love our little framed print of useful information. Steph found it in an old book and framed it. Just in case you need to calculate the circumference of a circle or British Imperial gallons... hey, you just never know! :)

I love that you can see the reflection of another corner of "stuff". Like I said, little by little!

Did I ever mention that I love love love tulips? Is there a more simple sweet flower? The island grown

ones were on special at Superstore and who could resist on a Friday afternoon with a storm brewing outside? Not me, they bring a little sunshine to my life ;)

Jewelry Storage Ideas

It's coming. My 30th birthday arrives this week. I have mixed feelings about it, but suppose I might as well embrace it. To be honest, I have dreaded it since I turned 29, but as it approaches, it doesn't seem all that bad. Just another day, right?

Some bloggers have created lists of things to do before they turn 30. I love reading about them and celebrate with them as they cross one of their list. I particularly enjoy Nicole's 30 Before Thirty list, as she is turning 30 shortly after me and has made a significant dent in her list.

Me, however, I'm just not that disciplined. Instead, I have my own little list of things to do once I am 30. Like take a yoga classes, make a point to send birthday cards, floss more often, be more dedicated to running and become organized. Ask me when I'm 31 how it went.

So... I was going through my jewelry the other day and realized I need to find a better way of keeping it all organized. Step one toward being more organized! I've got necklaces hanging on doors and bracelets and earrings in random drawers around the house.

I do have one system that I like, if I could teach myself to just put things away.

 I use ice cube trays to keep my earrings.
