I wanted to get all the paint on the house, posts and railings first then I was excited to give my front door a fresh coat of paint as a finishing touch. However. It seems that everyone seems to love it which leads me to think that I should definitely not change it.
Here is the thing. I painted that door 2 years ago. I had seen this door on Design Sponge home tour and had to have it.
I couldn't get the same color so I made a guess. Here is my version. It's called Calypso Green:
I remember my parents coming by after I painted it and they were snickering that it was a little "bright". I liked it instantly but it seemed to take a little while for others to come around. Maybe the color mellowed a little?
Sometimes when I tell people where I live they say "oh! The house with the green door!" I don't know if that means they like it or they don't :)
And as I've posted progress pictures of the porch, I've had several inquiries about the door color and lots of compliments!
So now to decide. I do like the color and especially love that it's versatile with each season. Fun in the summer, perfect in the fall with a pot of mums and Christmas friendly too! So I should keep it, right? But sometimes you just need a change! Something to freshen things up around here. A soft grey-blue would be so pretty! So I should change it, right?

What do you think? Keep it? Change it?
I say keep it! It really looks great and shows your personality.
ReplyDeleteThe good thing is it is just paint. So even if you change it you can always just change it back again or to something else. No big deal.
I love it! It is so fresh and adds just the right pop! This coming from mrs neutral ,ha.
ReplyDeleteok, well you know i love it as is. but that being said, a soft gray blue is more reflective of what is inside your house, too. you should check out rene at cottage and vine's door- it's s beautiful color!
ReplyDeleteI love the green door! It looks like the person living there (you) is so much fun and its warm and inviting! I say keep it.
ReplyDeleteBut the blue-grey idea isn't bad. You could even go for a robin's egg blue!
Keep it - It makes a statement and goes so well with your plants there!
ReplyDeleteI love the green!! It's unique...as in good unique. Not weird unique.
ReplyDeleteOf course, I don't live in your house so it has to make you happy.
I am no help. :P
Can doors be hot?! I love your door its hot! lol
ReplyDeleteKeep! That green will never look boring.
ReplyDeleteI love the green door! I think it gives such a great punch of color and personality to your home. A blue/gray door would "blend in" more, and I love the attention this one garners. I have seen a lot of cool front door colors on Curb Appeal - The Block, and that's what this door makes me think of. I think it's a keeper.
ReplyDeleteMy vote: Keep the chartreuse green door on the outside and paint it grey/blue on the inside. You're right when you say the green is so versatile with any flowers and plants for all seasons. However, either color is lovely.
ReplyDeleteKeep it! It makes your house stand out!
ReplyDeletePam
Please keep it! Pale colors on doors can quickly look washed out when they are outside, in my opinion. Like the idea of painting the inside of the door the pale blue/gray.
ReplyDeleteI love it! I say keep it for sure - maybe changing the hardware on it would feel like a refresher/brightener/update? I really love your blog... thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOh I love it so much!I don't see very many green doors, the color is perfect!
ReplyDeletewow i wish i was as bold as you! my front door is so blah and needs a makeover like this! keep it.
ReplyDeleteI love it as is too, Jane. I think it's cool that you have something that's different and stands out among everyone else's door. And I, too, like the idea of painting the inside of it the soft blue/gray. Good luck with your decision! And enjoy the rest of your summer:)
ReplyDeleteKEEP IT!!! I love that color. I'm a green girl anyway, but I think it's super fun.
ReplyDeleteKEEP IT!!!!! Please! I will post this 100 times just to make my vote count!
ReplyDeleteYour door is soooo pretty! Mine is a shade of teal. Now I want your green! I love bright and cheery doors. When someone say oh yeah, you have that blue door! I take it as a compliment because every time I see a pretty colored door, I always smile!
I would keep it green! It looks fantastic with the greenery out front. A small suggestion though... maybe paint out the door knob and mail slot black to match your black lighting. You could even change the shirred fabric to something with a pattern if you're looking to add some fun. But definitely keep the green door. Its unique!
ReplyDeleteI love the green door! It gives your house a nique identity! I was thinking about painting mine green or yellow!
ReplyDeleteIt's paint! You can change it every year if you want! I love the green, but you can always go back to green.
ReplyDeleteKEEP IT! I LOVE that green. It looks perfect alongside the shrubs at the front of your house. It's a great color.
ReplyDeleteKEEP IT!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI've even told people about your green door and the colors of your house!!

ReplyDeleteI love the green - I say keep it!
ReplyDeleteYou know - I LOVE the door, but was just thinking how easy it is to switch around paint... If you're feeling like giving something new a try, go for it! You can always change it back.
ReplyDeleteKeep the green! It is unique and adds a great pop of color.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your last few weeks. I haven't accomplished a thing since I went back to school!
Keep it!!!! It is a beautiful green. Sometimes people are more comfortable with the expected or traditional, versus the non-expected and excitingly different!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the green door - you know how much I love color! I definitely don't think it's too bright and it will beautiful for every season!
ReplyDeleteOh just found your blog and i just love it!
ReplyDeleteI think the green door is stunning, and fun, and grand! I also think it's pretty painless to spend one afternoon painting the door. If you feel like you need a change, go for it! It can always be changed back.
I like the green, and if you keep it, that does mean less work for you! :)
ReplyDeleteKeep it! It's different without being obnoxious or weird. I like it!
ReplyDeleteYes - keep it - its really groovy and invites the green of your grass and shrubs upwards - anchoring your house in a natural green nest! By the way - I have a little bird ready for you - come to Etsy - he is in a convo! Alison
ReplyDeleteKEEP!!! It's great.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely keep it!! I think it looks great!
ReplyDeleteI actually really like the color! It sets your house apart, and like you said, it's a good year-round color that you can dress up for the different seasons. I wish I would have been brave enough to paint my front door this color... maybe I will someday!
ReplyDeleteMy vote is to keep it. :)
