My Love of Books. Pretty Ones.

Now that I have my new bookcase, I'm dying to fill it with books. Did I ever tell you that I love books? I love to read but I also love to sit in bookstores and pour through beautiful design books, fashion books and cookbooks (even though I'm not much of a chef). They say you shouldn't judge a book by its cover but for me, a beautiful book will always steal my heart.

Lately, I've started collecting a few. Last Christmas, my sister gave me the Domino: The Book of Decorating and I added a few Jonathan Adler books to my collection as well as the new Design*Sponge book.

I now have 3 of the clothbound Penguin Classics but I want them all! They are just so pretty and I vow to read whatever ones I own. Promise.

This Christmas, I was the lucky recipient of these beauties.

Decorate
(amazing book, in case you were wondering!)

(Not my first Audrey book. LOVE her.)

The Great Gatsby
(yet another collection I'm dying for. So darn pretty!)

Today, Stephane and I were out shopping and he bought me another one. An amazing one... I admired it before Christmas and today it was 50% off. Who could resist? Not even him, I guess!

Have you guessed?

It's big, it's heavy and it's awesome.
She is so freakin' strange, yet so fascinating.
However, it will be placed on the shelf away from the eyes of little ones. (ie racy!)

What do you think of her? Are you a fan?

What are your favorite books? Share so I can add them to my list!

  2. I'm all about pretty books too :) So much so, that I too kinda judge the book by the cover (and I shouldn't)! I just picked up the Design*Sponge book over Christmas and love it already!

  3. I love those Penguin Classics -- they look amazing on a bookshelf! I've read a couple of mine, but have some more ground to cover! And I love me some Lady Gaga! She's fabulous!

  4. I love pretty books like these, too! I adore Decorate. Such a wonderful book! I can't handle too much of Lady Gaga...but she is fascinating...I'll give her that!! And a few of her songs are constantly in my head...SUCH good beats. You kind of can't help but like her at least a little bit!

  5. I'm totally a Lady Gaga stalker...I don't know why she is so dang fascinating, but she *IS*!!! And I'm a big fan of the Penguin classics as well, books don't get any cuter (or better stories, they picked all the best!)!

  7. Love these beautiful books- I try to be practical and buy books that I will read (at least, someday) but must admit to be drawn in by the colour the cover will add to the decor.

    Love Gaga!

  8. I like some of GaGa's songs. They are usually catchy so even if you don't want to like them, you can't help but sing along. What I like more about her is who she seems to be beyond her "character". I've seen/heard interviews with her and she actually sounds quite pleasant and totally normal!
I got a couple decorating books for xmas too!

  9. Love the Decorate book and the Penguin classics are so pretty. Sadly I'm not a Gaga fan - I don't mind her music but her gimmick just doesn't do it for me.

  10. I love books too! Not only just reading them but the way they can really dress up a room! I just got the Nook for Christmas and I still don't know if I want it because nothing beats the feeling of flipping pages of a real book!

  11. Books are awesome! I still have Domino's book on my wishlist, but do have Decorate. And anything Audrey is a sure hit!

I think Lady GaGa is incredibly talented, incredibly eccentric, and so smart in how she's marrying the two! She is a very smart business woman at the end of the day.

  14. Domino was awesome and I'm right in the middle of The Perfectly Imperfect Home (which has been great so far). We own tons and tons of books thanks to my husband. He doesn't care what they look like though so they go in his office and I shut the door! :) Hope you have a good Christmas and Happy New Year to you!

  16. I read about 3 to 5 books a week....and yet I only OWN about 20. For some reason, as much as I love books, I don't want them in my house, except for a few VERY special ones. I have such a weird resistance to anything that feels like 'clutter', and even books feel that way to me.

Just found you, by the way, through 'Favorite Paint Colors' blog and I'm off to read more from a fellow Canadian blogger!
