I had been searching high and low for a coffee table for a while. I really wanted a lucite one but it didn't fit the budget and I couldn't find one around here anyway. I settled for an upholstered one. I found this ottoman at Zellers on clearance for $24.99. I liked the shape and size so I took it home but I couldn't stand the dark pleather.
So I bought some fabric and recovered it. It isn't perfect but I'm really happy with how it turned out.
The fabric is really soft but it is a dog hair magnet! I was always happy that Beaufort was barely shedding but with all this humidity he is losing fur like crazy! Nothing a lint brush can't fix I guess! I think the buttons need to be pulled a bit tighter so I'll fix that.
It was really easy to do. I'd give instructions on how to do it, but I came across these from High-heeled Foot in the Door. She did pretty much the same thing and listed a great how-to.
Well, off to do some more scraping before it gets too hot! Enjoy the weekend!

Jane! You read my mind, I have the dark pleather too and have been telling Mark we should cover it...now I know we can! That looks awesome! Just need some fabric that is baby proof? Any suggestions?
ReplyDeletep.s. it's Rae, I have been using anonymous because my acct isn't working.
Thanks for your comments Rae! It was really easy to do. Baby proof fabric... what color? I'll keep my eyes open. I can help you make one if decide to!
ReplyDeleteJane, I love the ottoman! I was actually looking at a leather one a few weeks ago but decided want to spend the money on one right now. I am definitely going to keep my eyes open for a pleather one! I hope you are enjoying our summer so far! I may have a few nursery questions to ask as ours gets under way!

What about microfiber?? I think that is what it's called... My couch is that material and it wipes off everything...but I may wait to cover it until I get a new couch...but i would love a printed fabric..again not sure if I am using the right term. Some funky design is what I mean....p.s. So jealous of how close you were to AIDEN! Awesome pics:)
ReplyDeleteRae- I wanted a printed fabric too but our selection on pei is pretty slim.. things are a little old fashioned. Microfiber would be very forgiving and easy to work with. What colors are you thinking?
ReplyDeleteI love the ottoman! I need to get rid of all my pleather...going to be a big job! You've inspired me...I'm on the lookout for one:)
ReplyDeletewow Jane! Impressive, I'll have to get over to see it! Great job!!
