Bedroom Reveal.

I've been poking away at this bedroom here and there for a while now. Finally, I feel like it's time to share it with you. There are a few little things to do but for now, it's finished.

The duvet cover was picked up at Winners. I love the pretty ruffles and the cotton is very soft and washes well. I should have ironed it a bit for the photos but hey, it's summer I'm lazy.. The pillows were made using fabric from Tonic Living and Spoonflower.

The dresser was a diy refinishing project we tackled in the spring. A lot of work but we are very happy with how it turned out and looks great in the room.

The curtains are the Ritva panels from Ikea. I really like them but a couple of warnings. They are more cream than white and they shrank a 3-4 inches when I washed them. It drives me bonkers that they are a tad too short now. I may add some trim at some point.

I'm still unsure about what to do with the window over the bed. I love the light it lets in the room and the window itself is pretty but I wonder if I should put a roman shade of some sort or a bamboo blind like in the other window. I'd love your thoughts on this.

The headboard was a diy project as well. I still plan to add some nailhead trim detailing. The side table is in need of a paint job. I'm thinking of going with a darker grey. These projects are on the never ending to do list, of course.

So that's it.. a mostly finished, happy for now bedroom!
Have a great day!

  3. Looks great, Jane! I LOVE how the dresser turned out. I think every room needs a stained piece of furniture:) I can totally see a bamboo blind on your window over the bed...maybe even some panels. If you extend the rod and pull the curtains more to the sides, it may make your window look larger...one of those optical allusion things. Either way, it looks great! Good job:)

  5. Beautiful job, Jane! Cozy, inviting, and chic. Lovely.

Wonder if you'd consider getting a translucent canvas of sorts and hang a stretched panel in front of the window. Maybe at night it would just look like art, and provide privacy, while in the day the light could still pour through, and perhaps mingle with the artwork on it? Just an idea. Might be crazy. Might not work. Or it might. ;)

And I particularly love that shot of the bedside table with the owl and vase. So cute, and great lighting!

  17. This looks so fresh and happy. I especially love the piping on the striped pillows. I think your idea for a roman shade is a good solution - you could leave it open to show off the light, but still have some sort of treatment. Looks fab!

  18. If you don't want to lose any light you should make a faux roman shade with your favorite leftover fabric! I made one for my powder room and it took less than an hour. I found the idea as well the tutorial here:

YOu could use the same fabric as one of the pillows!?! :)

  26. Oh miss Jane! It turned out so absolutely lovely...the pillow combo on the bed is *fantastic*, I love the gray with the coral. And all the touches of wood, too, I feel like people don't use it enough in design anymore!

  27. Looks great! I love all the whites and wood tones. As for your window, I'd dress it like your other window - shade and panels - only extend the panels the entire length of the wall behind the bed. Will be beautiful with panels opened or closed! Enjoy your new space!

  28. Beautiful Jane! As for those curtains - I have the same ones, I prewash BEFORE I hem. I learned the hard way when I washed a pair after I hemmed them and was surprised when they shrunk soo much.

How much was the duty on the rug BTW? I am unsure of whether I should get a rug shipped to my US mailbox or just here in Canada.

  30. I'd be very happy if that were my bedroom. Love how you've but the mirror off center and added art to the right of it. And your throw pillows are super cute!

Regarding the window above your bed, I was going to say what others have written -- adding panels to the side of the window to give it the illusion of being larger and putting a nice bamboo blind inside?
